What do Atlanta SEO services cost per month?

As of 16 October 2026, one Atlanta agency's published SEO plans run from $1,000 a month to $5,000 or more. Here's what sets the price and what each tier buys.

A monthly price on its own isn't a list of what you get. Get the written scope before you compare one quote with another.

Atlanta SEO Agency publishes every tier and its price on its pricing page. Starter Local SEO is $1,000 a month and Authority SEO is $3,500. Its Custom / Enterprise plan starts at $5,000 or more a month and is meant for multi-location or high-revenue businesses. All of its plans include 24/7 access to a reporting dashboard.

The prices in the table come from one agency that publishes every tier. That makes them a fair yardstick when a quote lands on your desk. The same price can still buy very different work, and the next section breaks that down tier by tier.

What does each price tier actually include?

Each step up in Atlanta SEO services gets you more keywords, more pages worked on and a bigger budget for links. One Atlanta agency publishes what its tiers include, so here's what each one gets you.

Starter costs $1,000 a month. You get an audit, Google Business Profile optimization and on-page SEO for up to 5 pages. On-page SEO means editing the titles, headings and copy on your own pages so Google can tell what each one is about. Starter also covers citation cleanup. Citations are listings of your business name, address and phone number on directories and other sites, and they should match everywhere.

Higher tiers add steady content and paid link building. Link building means getting other reputable websites to link to yours.

Authority, at $3,500 a month, is built for crowded fields like law, medical and contracting. It adds two content pieces a month, covers up to 30 pages and includes a $1,200 link budget. Custom plans start at $5,000 or more and add multi-location work, plus conversion tracking and analytics setup.

Check what a tier leaves out, not just what it lists. Without conversion tracking, a report can show rankings and traffic but not which calls and form fills came from search. Before you pick a tier, ask whether call tracking is included.

Why do SEO quotes in Atlanta vary so much?

Quotes for Atlanta SEO services vary for three reasons: how much work is in scope, how crowded your market is, and who does the work. Two proposals can both say "SEO" and describe very different jobs, so the price follows the job.

The spread isn't just an Atlanta thing. In a poll of 439 SEO providers, monthly costs ran from $250 to $10,000, and 63% of businesses spent between $500 and $5,000. Nearly a quarter of providers, 23%, charge $500 to $1,000 a month. The average across the whole poll was $2,917 a month.

Here's an example. A Buckhead law firm wants to rank across the metro for injury and divorce searches, where dozens of firms want the same clicks. A Marietta plumber wants calls from a few nearby suburbs for a short list of jobs. The law firm needs more pages, more content and more links to compete. The plumber might only need a clean Business Profile, matching listings and solid service pages.

One Atlanta agency builds that difference into its plans. Its $3,500 Authority tier is for competitive industries such as law, medical and contractors, while its $1,000 Starter tier is for small or new local businesses. A plumber in a crowded part of town can still end up in the higher tier. Your competition sets the bar, not your trade.

Who does the work also moves the price. In the same poll, agencies charged 138% more than freelancers, and providers with two or more years of experience charged 33% more. A higher agency price can pay for a team that handles content, technical fixes and reporting. It can also just pay for overhead, so ask who'll actually work on your account.

Most providers, 78.2%, charge a monthly retainer, and the average hourly rate is $111. If a quote comes in hourly, multiply the hours by the rate. Then compare it with a retainer that covers the same work. If you're thinking about hiring in-house instead, check what US digital marketers earn before you decide.

Does a small Atlanta business need local SEO or full SEO?

Most small Atlanta businesses that serve a set area should start with local SEO, not full SEO. Google's Business Profile guidelines let you create a profile if customers come to your location or you travel to them. That profile, matching listings and a few solid service pages usually bring in calls first. It's also the cheaper place to start.

Here's the difference. Local SEO works on the map results and your Business Profile, which is what people see when they search for a plumber or dentist nearby. It covers your profile, your citations and a page for each service you offer. Full SEO works on the whole website. That means new content each month, technical fixes and link building, so you rank for wider searches.

Use your business name the way it appears on your signs, keep your address or service area accurate, and pick as few categories as you need. Keep just one profile per business. If you ignore these rules, Google can change your listing or remove it.

That's why local plans sit at the low end of Atlanta SEO services pricing. One Atlanta agency aims its $1,000 Starter Local SEO plan at small or new local businesses. In Ahrefs' poll of 439 SEO providers, local SEO averaged $1,557 a month. You'll pay more for full SEO because there's simply more work in it.

Pick by where your customers are. If they live within a drive of your shop, start local and add content once your profile and listings are clean. If you sell across the country, a map listing covers only a small part of the job, so full SEO fits better. The same goes for showing up in AI answers, since getting cited by AI search depends on your whole site.

How we price SEO and what a month includes

We charge a flat monthly retainer for SEO, and we quote it after we've looked at your market and your competitors. The price and the monthly deliverables go in writing before you sign. You'll know which pages we'll work on, which listings we'll fix and what the report will show. Hold any proposal for Atlanta SEO services to that same standard, ours included.

Most local SEO months for a small business look about the same. We start with your Business Profile and listings. Then we work on your service pages, and we finish with a report. The report ties the work to calls and form fills, not just rankings. The week-by-week breakdown is below.

Some work isn't part of a local SEO month. Paid ads, a website rebuild and CRM setup are separate jobs, each with its own quote. New leads also need a fast reply once they come in, so check how quickly you answer a new lead. Search can bring in the call, but it can't answer the phone.

You might not need us at all. If you serve one part of town, your profile follows Google's rules and your listings already match, the upkeep is simple. Someone just has to reply to reviews, post updates and keep your hours current. A trained virtual assistant can handle that without an SEO retainer.

A typical small-business local SEO month, week by week

  1. 01Week 1: Check your Google Business Profile against Google's guidelines. That covers your name, address or service area, categories and hours. Then review last month's calls and map positions.
  2. 02Week 2: Clean up citations, which are listings of your business name, address and phone number on directories. Fix any that don't match.
  3. 03Week 3: Improve your service pages. Rewrite titles, headings and copy so each page clearly covers one service and the area you serve.
  4. 04Week 3, continued: Help you ask happy customers for reviews, and draft replies to new ones on your profile.
  5. 05Week 4: Send the report. It covers calls, form fills and map positions, what we did this month and the plan for next month.

How long before SEO starts paying off?

Plan on four months to a year before SEO starts paying off. Google says, "In most cases, the SEO will need four months to a year to help your business first implement improvements and then see potential benefit." The same timeline applies to Atlanta SEO services at every price. A bigger retainer pays for more work each month, but it can't skip the wait.

Months 1 to 3 are mostly fixes. In that stretch, your Business Profile gets checked against Google's rules, your listings get cleaned up and your service pages get rewritten. You'll probably see the work before you see the calls. A fair report for these months shows what was done and what changed. It shouldn't promise a jump in leads yet.

Months 4 to 12 are when results can start to show. Look for more calls, form fills and better map positions from search, not just higher rankings. If nothing has moved by the end of the first year, ask why in writing before you renew.

Google also tells you who to avoid. Its hiring guide puts it plainly: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." An SEO who promises one is promising something Google says can't be promised. Treat that promise as a reason to walk away, not a bonus.

StretchWhat's happeningWhat a fair report shows
Months 1–3Business Profile, listings and service pages get fixedWork done, pages changed, listings corrected, plus starting calls and map positions

How do you compare Atlanta SEO services before you sign?

Compare Atlanta SEO services on what each one delivers every month and what the report proves, not on price alone. Two plans can look close until you count the work. One Atlanta agency's $1,000 plan covers up to 5 pages. Its $3,500 plan covers up to 30 pages, two content pieces a month and a $1,200 link budget. Ask every agency the same questions and get the answers in writing.

Ask for numbers, not adjectives. "Ongoing optimization" tells you nothing you can check. A plan that lists on-page SEO for up to 5 pages tells you exactly what you're paying for. If a proposal won't put counts on the work, you can't tell at month's end whether it got done.

Ownership is the question most owners forget to ask. Your Google Business Profile, Search Console, analytics and website should sit in accounts you own, with the agency added as a user. The same goes for any content they write for you. That way, if you part ways, your listings, data and pages stay with you.

Then check the reporting. A dashboard you can log into isn't the same as a report that answers your question. One Atlanta agency gives every plan 24/7 dashboard access. What matters more is whether it shows the calls and form fills that came from search. Ask whether call tracking is in the price or billed on a separate line.

Last, look at the exit. Ask for the minimum term and how much notice you have to give. Google says that in most cases, an SEO will need four months to a year to see potential benefit. A contract that locks you in well past the point where you can judge results deserves a hard second look. Fill in the worksheet below with one column per agency.

Seven questions to ask each Atlanta SEO agency

  1. 01Who does the work on my account? Get a name, and ask whether the work stays in-house or goes to a subcontractor.
  2. 02What gets delivered each month, in numbers? Pages edited, listings fixed, content pieces written and the link budget.
  3. 03Who owns the accounts and the content? Your Business Profile, Search Console, analytics, website and anything they write should stay in your name.
  4. 04How long is the contract, and how do I leave? Ask for the minimum term and the notice period, in writing.
  5. 05What does the monthly report show? It should cover calls, form fills and map positions, not just rankings and traffic.
  6. 06Is call tracking included, or does it cost extra? Without it, you can't see which leads came from search.
  7. 07What isn't included? Get anything extra, such as content, links or a website rebuild, listed and priced on its own line.

Red flags in an Atlanta SEO proposal

The three biggest red flags in an Atlanta SEO proposal are guaranteed rankings, vague deliverables and a contract that locks you in before results can show. Any one of them is a reason to slow down. When two turn up in the same proposal, the deal usually works better for the agency than for you.

Guarantees top the list because Google warns about them by name. Its hiring guide says, "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." If a proposal promises page one by a set date, it's promising something Google says nobody can deliver.

Vague scope is harder to spot. "Custom strategy" and "ongoing optimization" sound like work, but you can't count them. Compare that with a plan that lists up to 10 local keywords and on-page SEO for up to 5 pages. If you can't count the work, you can't check that it got done.

Lock-ins matter because of the timeline. Google says that in most cases, an SEO will need four months to a year to see potential benefit. A term that runs well past that, with a steep exit fee, leaves you stuck if the results never come.

Your next step is simple. Get two or three written scopes from the Atlanta SEO services on your shortlist. Fill in the worksheet above with one column per agency, and compare the prices last.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is $500 a month enough for SEO?

It can be for a small local job, but it buys limited work. In Ahrefs' poll of 439 SEO providers, 23% charged $500 to $1,000 a month. One Atlanta agency starts at $1,000, for on-page SEO on up to 5 pages. Get the scope in writing.

Do SEO agencies charge by the hour or by the month?

Most charge by the month: 78.2% of providers in Ahrefs' poll of 439 use a monthly retainer. The average hourly rate is $111. If a quote is hourly, multiply the hours by the rate and compare it with a retainer that covers the same work.

Is an SEO freelancer cheaper than an agency?

Usually, yes. In Ahrefs' poll of 439 SEO providers, agencies charged 138% more than freelancers. A higher agency price can pay for a team, or it can just pay for overhead, so ask who'll actually work on your account.

Who should own my Google Business Profile and analytics if I hire an SEO?

You should. Your Business Profile, Search Console, analytics, website and any content written for you belong in accounts you own, with the agency added as a user. That way your listings, data and pages stay with you if you part ways.
